Accept Bitcoin (BTC) payments on your website

Add Bitcoin as a payment method and receive BTC directly to a wallet you control — non-custodial, with no chargebacks and no middleman holding your money.

Why accept Bitcoin?

Bitcoin is the original cryptocurrency and by far the most recognized. For many customers it's the first — and sometimes only — crypto they hold, so offering it removes friction for the widest possible audience. Merchants who accept Bitcoin signal that they take crypto seriously, and BTC remains the default request from crypto-paying customers worldwide.

Because Crypto IPG is non-custodial, every Bitcoin payment settles straight to your own wallet. There's no processor holding your BTC, no payout schedule, and no risk of an account freeze cutting you off from your own money. Once the transaction confirms on the Bitcoin network, the funds are yours.

Bitcoin at a glance

NetworkBitcoin (Layer 1)
Confirmation timeAround 10 minutes per block; most merchants wait for 2–3 confirmations, so roughly 20–30 minutes for full settlement on larger amounts.
Typical feesPaid by the customer sending the payment. Vary with network congestion — low when the network is quiet, higher during peak demand.
Best forHigh-value purchases, customers who hold BTC long term, and any merchant who wants maximum customer recognition and trust.
VolatilityBitcoin's price moves. If you want to avoid this, price in your local currency (the gateway converts at the live rate) or also offer a stablecoin like USDT.
Bitcoin confirmations are deliberately slower than newer chains — that's the trade-off for its security and finality. For instant, low-fee payments, many merchants pair BTC with Litecoin or USDT on Tron.

How Bitcoin payments work

01

Customer chooses BTC

At checkout they pick Bitcoin and see the exact amount plus a QR code for your address.

02

They pay your wallet

The BTC goes directly to the Bitcoin address you control. Our watcher tracks the blockchain in real time.

03

You're notified

After the required confirmations, a signed webhook marks the order paid and both sides get a receipt.

How to start accepting Bitcoin

  1. Get a Bitcoin wallet you control. Any non-custodial wallet with a BTC receive address works. Our crypto wallet guide walks through choosing one.
  2. Create a free Crypto IPG account and add your website — or a project if you have no site.
  3. Paste your BTC receive address into your dashboard under Wallets.
  4. Install a plugin or use the API. Drop-in modules exist for WooCommerce, WHMCS, PrestaShop and more, or connect directly via the REST API.
  5. Send a small test payment and confirm the order flips to paid before going live.

Bitcoin payment FAQ

How long does a Bitcoin payment take to confirm?

A block is mined roughly every 10 minutes. Small amounts may be treated as paid after one confirmation; larger amounts typically wait for 2–3, so about 20–30 minutes.

Who pays the Bitcoin network fee?

The customer sending the payment pays the network fee. You receive the full invoiced amount to your wallet.

Can I avoid Bitcoin's price swings?

Yes. Price your products in your local currency and the gateway shows the equivalent BTC at the live rate. To hold a stable value after payment, also accept a stablecoin such as USDT or USDC.

Do you ever hold my Bitcoin?

Never. Crypto IPG is non-custodial — BTC goes straight from the customer to your wallet. We only watch the blockchain to confirm the payment.
